 Carol "Windy" Smith, age 82, of Orient, IL. passed away at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Herrin Hospital. He was born July 1, 1927 in West Frankfort, Il to George and Mabel Dame Smith.
He was a retired coal miner, a UMWA member, and a member of American Legion Post 1961 Orient. Carol is survived by his daughter: Carolyn Smith of Orient, IL; granchildren: Lori Walley of West Frankfort, IL, Aaron Stanley of Orient, IL; great grandson: Connor Walley of West Frankfort, IL; four sisters: Barbara Malone of Pontiac, IL, Inez Baker of Nintic, IL, Eva Wiseman of Johnston City, IL, Carmen Francoeur of Johnston City, IL; and brother: George Smith of Carterville, IL.
A celebration of life service will be held at the American Legion in Orient, IL on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 10 to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m.
